Henry Martinez vs. Wilson Reis

Round 1
Wilson Reis takes the cage as the headline fight of Bellator II.  Martinez attacks quickly, pins Reis to the cage walls, Martinez lifts and slams Reis to the mat.  Reis quickly scrambles and reverses Martinez.  Reis attempts his own slam, loses control and the fighters are back on their feet.  Reis lands multiple knees to the midsection on Martinez.  An off-balance scramble ensues with no fighter landing.  Martinez slips a left to the chin of Reis.  Reis misses a wild card and Martinez catches Reis with a takedown and assumes a side mount.  Reis scrambles for a reversal, attempts a triangle and shifts to rear mount. Martinez moves to base position as Reis synchs in the grapevines. Martinez reverse, wildly misses Reis with a strike to the head as the bell sounds.

I give Reis the round in a close call with no dominance by either fighter.

Round 2
The fighters square off in the middle, feeling each other out. Reis lunges for a shot, Martinez sprawls and circles for takedown.  Reis reverses and obtains a side mount with a leg tie. Martinez escapes, gets a takedown and is immediately reversed.  No offensive action from either fighter as Reis holds on.  Reis loses control from top position and Martinez takes side mount.  Martinez lands multiple hammerfists to the face.  Reis scrambles for a reverse and obtains a full mount.  Martinez gets back to his base as Reis attempts to flatten him out as the bell brings an end to the round.

Close round that could go either way due to no fighting excitement.

Round 3
The fighters again come out cautiously.  Reis lands kick to leg and misses with an uppercut.  Martinez lands kick to the leg.  Reis throws wild shot, misses and spins around losing balance.  Reis regains his  balance and gets takedown, but Martinez assumes a strong guard.  Reis moves into side mount position, as Martinez continues his strong defense.  Reis is unable to score as Martinez is fighting to clearly make it through the fight without being submitted.  Reis moves to top position, scoring glancing blows in an attempt to flatten out Martinez.  Strong defense is still played by Martinez, as he seeks to make it through fight.  Reis start scoring blows to the head from the top position, making it through Martinez' defense.  Reis is now landing blows without response.  The bell rings to close the fight.

Reis wins the round with his riding the back display and pounding on Martinez.  Reis does enough to reach the semis with a solid victory.
