Aaron Romero vs. Jorge Ortiz

Round 1
Romero and Ortiz come out and trade low kicks.  Romero attacks with a right and kick to the bottom.  Ortiz defends with a counter knee.  A flurry response from Romero lands a right and Ortiz pins Romero to cage wall.  Ortiz spins and takes down Romero, landing glancing blows that Romero easily defends.  Ortiz presses Romero into the cage with limited offensive action and Romero gets to his feet. The fighters trade wild missing punches as they move back to the center of the cage.  Ortiz lands right-left-right combination, cutting Romero over the right eye.  Romero dances around the ring as Ortiz give chase, landing a left. Another left by Ortiz, as Romero lands a kick.  The fighters trade punches, with Ortiz getting the better of the exchange.  The bell rings to end the round.

Round goes to Ortiz with a nice punching game.

Round 2
Ortiz quickly strikes with a combination to the head.  Romero lands multiple leg kicks and a wild flurry as both fighters ensue with little damage.  Romero dances around the cage with Ortiz in pursuit. Romero re-engages, with Ortiz landing multiple blows to legs and head.  Romero is not mounting much of an attack, waiting to counter on Ortiz' advances.  Ortiz pops a jab in the nose and follow with leg kick.   Another wild flurry as Ortiz grabs a Muay Thai clinch and lands a hard knee blow.  Romero lands a strong blow as blood trickles down his nose.  Ortiz hits a left jab.  Romero lands a combination and Ortiz responds with another jab.  Ortiz attempts a takedown and Romero scrambles.  There's the bell.

Round goes to Ortiz as he lands more punishment to Romero

Round 3
The fight starts out with a flurry and Romero lands an illegal kick to the groin area.  Referee halts action, giving Ortiz time to recover from the illegal blow.  The fighters trade blows with neither landing anything hard.  Romero dances backwards despite being behind on the scorecards.  Ortiz lands a jab and Romero responds with a wild missing blow.  Ortiz lands kick to the legs.  Romero continues to dance and not engage.  Both fighters are clearly running out of gas.  Romero lands a weak leg kick and dances away.  Ortiz attempts a strike and misses. Romero lands a strong combination sending Ortiz to the cage wall, but dances back to the middle of the cage. Leg kick by Romero, as Ortiz counters with blows.  Romero unleashes a wild exchange of blows as he hears the 10 second left knock but is unable to land anything hard.  Bell sounds.

Uneventful round for most of it. A late flurry by Romero gives him the round. Decision to Ortiz as he will move on to the Semis.
